Future Plans

Introduction

The trustees of the Priory have decided to split the future management of the site into two key areas.

  • Day to day
  • Strategic

Day to day

Given the proximity of Gloucestershire College, and in line with our commitment to encourage use of the site by the general public, the Trust has entered a service level agreement with the College to undertake key tasks in exchange for open access to the College staff and students. These include site security, cleanliness and routine maintenance.

The College and its students are very keen to play an active role in the future of Llanthony Secunda Priory and the following are an example of work already undertaken.

  • Creation of logo by HND Graphic Design student
  • The website created by Chris Morris, A HND Computing student
  • Repairs to the Victorian building due to vandalism - The repairs were carried out by Construction Craft students from a range of disciplines

Strategic

A project of this scale which exhibits much long-term deteriorations demands a wide range of skills from specialists in the field. To this end the Trustees are actively preparing two key projects that will help shape the future of the site.

  • A condition survey
  • A conservation management plan

Both of these have been commissioned from local specialists and are being developed.
